unquote” Central & Eastern Europe Private Equity Congress and Awards 2008

unquote” would like to invite you to their second annual Central and Eastern European congress. Following on from the success of our inaugural event last year this one day single stream event, held in English, will focus on core issues influencing the private equity market.
We will be looking at successful competitive strategies and investment potential in the region, including new EU members, Balkans countries, Turkey, Russia and Ukraine.

Today Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) offers converging market fundamentals that are nearing – or, are already in line with – EU norms, but at the same time offers emerging market potential, with GDP growth rates roughly twice those of the EU. There are now signs that CEE has elements of a mature private equity market. LP access to top funds, long a problem in more mature markets, has begun to plague CEE, with secondaries increasing in popularity as a method of addressing this. Perhaps more telling, a small number of GP spinouts have emerged, reminiscent of the UK market at the turn of the century. These new teams, combined with global GPs setting up shop in the region, have exerted pressure on indigenous players to keep their professionals satisfied – or risk losing them to alluring new upstarts.

The highly topical conference programme is tailored to provide a unique gathering for networking between international and regional key players of the CEE Private Equity industry.

Conference highlights include:

  • An overview of the private equity industry in CEE
  • CEE Leverage market: Assessing the effects of the global credit crunch
  • The renaissance of mezzanine finance in the region
  • Competition in CEE: The challenges of new players
  • Spin outs
  • New Markets: Russia, Ukraine and Turkey
  • Accessing top funds
  • Regulatory focus
  • Venture Capital: Back on the scene?

unquote” CEE Private Equity Awards 2008

unquote” is excited to announce the second annual CEE Private Equity Congress & Awards.

Key issues and challenges surrounding investment in private equity in the CEE region will be discussed by leading local and Western private equity fund investors. The Congress will be followed by a drinks reception and the Central & Eastern Europe Private Equity Awards ceremony.

Designed to act as a showcase of excellence in this growing market, the awards will reward innovation and flair by those who have contributed tangible and measurable success within their sector of the industry in 2007. This year's award categories are:

  • Law Firm of the Year
  • Debt Provider of the Year
  • Fundraising of the Year
  • Mezzanine Provider of the Year
  • Large Deal of the Year (EU CEE)
  • Mid-Market Deal of the Year (EU CEE)
  • Deal of the Year (non-EU CEE)

Even the global credit crisis has done little to slow this market down. Though the crunch was felt in CEE, the impact was limited to a handful of very large deals with financing done from London. In fact, local pockets of liquidity continue to drive the market with relatively conservative capital structures. Perhaps Western European financiers have a thing or two to learn from their erstwhile students.
